Photoshoot Planning
Spread and Cover Planning
1. What is the topic of my 300-word article?
The topic of my article is the life of a young minority feminine presenting person in America. It will be an interview-style article where I ask the models about their experiences as young colored women in America The few questions will include ones about everyday experiences both positive and possibly negative.
2. How can I illustrate that text in images? In other words, what images would be suitable as illustrations for that text? What should those images depict?
The images should depict the mood of the text. I plan for the interview to be a mixture of lightheartedness and some seriousness as well, so my picture will emulate that. In the photos the models will be simply living life, they will include some posed and candid photos.
3. Who is going to be the model?
Two 17 years old of African descent one an African American and the other a Caribbean American. The third model will be a 16-year-old Caribbean American of Latin/Hispanic descent. The 4th model will be a racially ambiguous 18-year-old, who is black and Hispanic.
4. What mise en scene am I going to use for the photoshoot? Where am I going to take these photos (LOCATION)? What costumes am I going to use? In other words, how is the model going to be dressed for the photo shoot?
I plan for most of the pictures to be cut-outs that don't include the background, but if there is a background included it will include outdoor scenes with models and the sunset. Each model will be dressed in a different trendy aesthetic like dark academia or goth. Their hair and makeup will fit their aesthetics and obviously cater to their personal preferences.
5. What camera shots should I use for the front cover? What camera shots should I use for the double-page spread and the table of contents?
For the front cover, the image will be shot from eye level and if those don't fit with the content/text on the page mid-long shots will fit more. For my contents page, I would like to have extreme-long/ establishing shots. Lastly, for my Double page spreds, I will have long shots that show the model's whole body from head to toe.
