Audience Research

To further aid in the development of my magazine I did a short survey to see what my target audience is thinking and would like to see. The results were very illuminating, I learned a lot and they even made me reconsider some parts of my magazine.

Question 1

Question 2

Question 3
Question 4

The first question was "Do you fall in the age range of 16-23?", the question was to confirm that everyone fell under my target audience. The second question was "Which masthead is the most appealing", the winner, Moody Mag was my favorite option so I'm glad it won. I was actually surprised to see that the 3rd option "Oh Girlll" didn't get more votes I thought that on was pretty creative. For the third question I asked about their preferred color scheme. This option made me reconsider my color scheme the second option, pink, purple, blue and yellow, was my first choice but the 3rd pink, black, and white, won. I'm still not sure on what I will do but it's nice to see what they liked. The 4th question was about ads that they might actually engage with, the clothing option won which was expected.

My last two questions were open-ended questions, about the content of the magazine. The first question was "What type of person would you want to be represented in a magazine? (Think demographics: age, race, sexuality, lifestyle)", This question was asked to ensure that that I would cater to my audiences needs and wants. Before this survey, I thought I would cater to all races but after reviewing the responses most of my peers would like to see people that look like the. Most answers included POC'S, members of the lgbtq community, and young people navigating through life. The next open-ended question was "What content would entice you to buy a magazine catered to young women? (Think celebrity news/interviews, makeup/life advice, etc.)" This question was specifically about the pages of my magazine, in regard to the content. Although there is many different answers, they showed me that I should also cater to the lifestyle genre as well as the Pop culture.
